What’s a blog-powered web site? Well, the LarsonCreative.net web site is one! kathy’s-art.com, themainplace.com, and villagetheatrearts.com are examples too. While they looks and act like a regular web site as seen in LarsonCreative.net blog-powered web sites take advantage of a comprehensive set of off-the-shelf, often open source tools that allow modules to be added and customized. I use design to make these interact seamlessly.
Basic Web Site Features
- Distinctly-designed home page.
- Main navigation found on every page and other elements entice visitors to explore your entire site.
- CSS-driven pages that define the color, fonts, and other design elements and gives the site a cohesive “look and feel” and brand.
What the Blog Platforms Adds:

Social bookmarking websites are becoming more and more popular. Basically they allow you to save bookmarks online and Tag/Categorize them with keywords instead of saving them as bookmarks in the favorites list of your browser. My favorite Social Bookmark is
“Stumble Upon” you can access it at www.stumbleupon.com and its also an add-on to the browser Mozilla foxfire. It works like a search engine you can see sites other users have rated.
I have compiled a list of Social Bookmarking websites and inserted the logo links into the bottom this post and all the other posts in my news section. Visit the sites and if you would like create an account on one. Once you have an account you can bookmark things that you find interesting and useful. By doing so you are becoming part of a network of folks that like search engines pick out useful places on the web. Once you’ve done that you intermittently, (or aggressively), add useful and interesting items, (perhaps also from your own content), that could use additional exposure.
Make an honest effort to contribute USEFUL information and links. This is all about sharing and exposure. Done properly, you can be as aggressive as you want to be about sharing information. You can share your blog(s), links to your informational/resource sites etc. Think about the fact that when you share links to other’s resources, you’re also effectively promoting their content as well.
Happy Bookmarking…

Interesting article about how people are generating income via Google Adsense from their very blogs.
“Gray Googlers’ Strike Gold”
USA Today Jefferson Graham
“The Internet may be a young person’s medium, but the retired and those nearing retirement have found that they can work the Web just as well. Sometimes, such Gray Googlers can live a richer, more financially rewarding life than when they were supposedly working.”
The adage, “do what you love - and every thing else will fall into place” rings true for savvy web contributors. Dedication is the primary factor. What subject would you absolutely love writing about? Because, unless you have a genius online marketing scheme your site isn’t going to get hits. It’s all about the hits!!! You have to have content that people are interested in, and you have to write about that topic consistently. Traffic is created by search engines when you have a bounty of information on a topic over posted over a period of time. In other words one post on your blog from 3 years ago isn’t going to do much. Some contributors hit website gold by writing about a topic that just is not available on the internet. But for the most part you have to make several posts to increase the SEO, search engine optimization.
Once you get the hits - you need to build a relationship with your readers/ subscribers. How do you build relationships on a very impersonal internet - by giving your viewers something they didn’t already have. Because there is so much information out there it can be a daunting task for someone to research a topic and gain any value from what they find. Web contributors who post should strive to provide quality information, which in turn will increase the value of the relationships.
